Valerie first began as a TV pilot script written as a spec in early 2017.
The first act was then turned into a 6-page comic script in Fall 2020.
Character references:
Joanna Cacao, a Canadian-Filipino artist and illustrator came up with the character designs.
Haley Rose-Lyon, letterer and editorial consultant started working as soon as the storyboards came in from Joanna. Haley advised on balloon placement for a smooth read which required a few changes to the writing and composition.
Arielle Jovellanos, an illustrator, writer, and comic artist based in NY designed the cover art.
